When and where is ASCO 2027?

Friday, June 4, to Tuesday, June 8, 2027. That is the date ASCO's abstract system and its official exhibit site both give for the 2027 ASCO Annual Meeting, and the venue is McCormick Place at 2301 S. Lake Shore Drive, Chicago, IL 60616.

Both recent editions follow the same shape: a Friday start, five days, and a three-day exhibit hall in the middle. If you searched for ASCO 2026 dates, that meeting is over. It ran May 29 to June 2, 2026, with exhibits May 30 to June 1.

03 Abstract deadline

ASCO 2027 abstract deadline

Regular abstracts for the 2027 meeting close on Tuesday, January 26, 2027, at 11:59 p.m. UTC. The deadline is in UTC, not Chicago time: it falls at 5:59 p.m. Central and 6:59 p.m. Eastern on January 26. A resident who plans to submit "after clinic that evening" on the West Coast has until 3:59 p.m. Pacific.

Until that moment you can still open, edit or withdraw a submission in ASCO's system, so an early draft costs nothing. Every coauthor also has to complete a disclosure form, and that is the step that usually holds up a submission on the last day.

Collect coauthor disclosures a week before January 26. Chasing a coauthor on another continent at 6 p.m. Eastern on deadline day is how abstracts miss the cut.

04 Registration and fees

ASCO's registration for 2027 opens in December 2026, and the rates are not published yet.

Once ASCO posts the rates, they go on our ASCO 2027 meeting page with the source link and the date we checked it. To weigh the registration against travel and what your employer's CME allowance covers, use CME money and conference fees.

Watch out for one thing. ASCO's meeting contacts name SPARGO, Inc. for hotel reservations and exhibitor registration, so an email from a different company offering "official" ASCO rooms deserves a second look.

05 Hotels and housing

Hotel reservations for the 2027 meeting are handled by SPARGO, Inc., the company that runs ASCO's official exhibit site. The 2027 contact page lists [email protected] and 703-449-6418 for hotel reservations.

Book through the housing link ASCO publishes on its Annual Meeting page when housing opens. We do not list hotel rates because they change with the room block.

McCormick Place sits on the lakefront south of downtown, and the meeting runs five days. A first-time attendee who books near the convention center trades evening restaurant choice for a short walk at 7 a.m.; one who books in the Loop does the opposite.

06 Exhibits and floor plan

The exhibit hall is open three days: Saturday, June 5, Sunday, June 6, and Monday, June 7, 2027, each from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ASCO's exhibit site marks these hours as subject to change.

ASCO's exhibit prospectus says the meeting reaches more than 34,000 health care professionals and that over 500 organizations will exhibit in 2027. For 2026 the same site reported more than 42,000 attendees.

07 CME credit types

How many CME credits does ASCO offer, and which types?

ASCO is an ACCME-accredited provider, and the 2027 credit works differently from most conferences. ASCO's continuing education page says the meeting is not one activity with 200+ credits: each of its 150+ sessions is designated separately, for 0.5 to 4 credits depending on length. So there is no single total to quote. Your number is the sum of the sessions you attend and claim.

MOC points come from four boards this year: the American Board of Internal Medicine, the American Board of Pediatrics, the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery. If you ask for MOC, ASCO wants a short reflection on what you learned and how it affects your practice, written where you claim the credit.

Read the number as a ceiling. A designation statement tells you the most the provider can award; you claim the time you actually spent in sessions. Our guide to AMA PRA Category 1 Credit explains the wording line by line.

Physician assistants can use it too. NCCPA accepts "AMA PRA Category 1 Credit from organizations accredited by ACCME or a recognized state medical society" toward the 50 Category 1 credits in its 100-credit cycle. Nurses and pharmacists should check ASCO's CE page for what it offers their profession before counting any hours.

08 How to claim credit

How to claim CME credit for the ASCO Annual Meeting

1. Put September 9, 2027 in your calendar now. ASCO says all MOC requests and credit claims must be in by that date, and claiming closes after it.
2. Use the ASCO Meetings app at meetings.asco.org or on your phone. Claiming is built into it, and it opens for each session only once that session has started.
3. Choose "Claim CME only" if you just need a transcript of AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ or hours of participation. If your board is one of the four above, request MOC points instead and write the short reflection.
4. Claim only the time you attended, session by session.
5. Download your documents from your ASCO Profile: open the "CE Transcripts & Certificates" tab and pick the 2027 ASCO Annual Meeting. You get the list of claimed sessions, the credit transcript and a certificate of attendance. ASCO keeps them available for seven years.
6. A few weeks later, check CME Passport, the ACCME's free transcript tool. ASCO reports physician credits there; you cannot add them yourself, so a gap means you should contact ASCO.

Attending is not claiming. A session you never claimed by ASCO's deadline never reaches your transcript or CME Passport, however many hours you sat through.

Tips that save time and money at ASCO

• Add January 26, 2027 to your calendar now if you plan to present; the abstract site closes at 11:59 p.m. UTC.
• Check which sessions your board accepts for MOC before you build your schedule, not after.
• Count ASCO hours against your state's rules. Illinois, California and Texas each set their own totals and topics; see physician CME requirements by state.
