| Topic | Hours | How often |
|---|---|---|
| Human trafficking | 2 | every renewal |
| Domestic violence | 2 | every 6 years |
| Prevention of medical errors & patient safety | 2 | every renewal |
| HIV/AIDS | 1 | before the first renewal |
| Controlled substances prescribing | 3 | every renewal |
| State laws & rules (jurisprudence) | 2 | every renewal |
| Recognizing impairment in the workplace | 2 | every 4 years |
Alternatives & exemptions. Certification by a specialty program accredited by NCCA or ABSNC exempts from CE, but not from the 3-hour controlled-substance course or the 2-hour human trafficking course; report it in CE Broker. Licensees who had to be nationally certified at original licensure must submit current national certification.
Good to know. Table: 16 general + 2 medical errors + 2 laws and rules + 2 impairment (every other renewal) + 2 human trafficking + 3 safe prescribing of controlled substances (every biennium); domestic violence is extra to the 24 hours. APRNs renew in three groups (Apr 30 2027/2028, Jul 31 2028).
