Alternatives & exemptions. Base renewal requirement is current professional certification in the specialty from a Board-designated certifying agency. APRNs licensed before May 8, 2002 (or CNSs with retired certification) may instead complete 40 hours of CE in the specialty approved by a certifying agency or ACCME Category I.
Good to know. The 8 hours apply only to APRNs with prescriptive authority; others meet renewal through national certification. Licenses renew biennially.
