Alternatives & exemptions. CE is one of three methods and the nurse must document two of them: 30 contact hours of CE (or current national nursing certification), 30 hours of unpaid professional activities, or 320 hours of nursing employment in the two years before renewal. Instead, a board-approved refresher course, 6+ academic credits toward a higher nursing degree, or passing NCLEX since the last renewal also count.
Good to know. Board website blocks automated access; rules taken from 12 AAC 44.600-44.660 and the fee from 12 AAC 02.280. Expiration date of the biennial period not confirmed from an official page.
