Alternatives & exemptions. 30 CE hours is one of nine options; one is enough. Others include a board-approved refresher course, 2 semester credits of post-licensure study, 120 hours as a preceptor, a nursing research or EBP project, a published article or chapter, developing and teaching nursing CE, a nurse residency program, or another activity pre-approved by the board. A current board-recognized national certification exempts the nurse.
Good to know. All RN and LPN licenses expire June 30 of odd years (current biennium July 1, 2025 - June 30, 2027). Inactive licenses can be renewed without the requirement.
