02 About
About American Academy of Pediatrics
Thirty-five pediatricians founded the AAP in 1930, at a time when the idea that children had their own developmental and health needs was still new. The Academy's mission covers the health of infants, children, adolescents and young adults, alongside the professional needs of its members.
Its yearly national conference, AAP Experience, is unusually flexible on credit. Recent statements cover AMA credit for physicians, Category 1 credit that PAs can claim, NAPNAP contact hours with pharmacology content for pediatric nurse practitioners, and MOC points through the American Board of Pediatrics. That mix makes it workable for physicians, PAs and NPs from the same pediatric office.
Live, online and enduring formats have all been part of the credit statement, so someone who misses a session may still be able to claim it later. Confirm the current year's maximums on the accreditation page, because they change annually.
