About American Association of Nurse Practitioners
AANP began in 1985, when a small group of nurse practitioners met under an apple tree in Pennsylvania and decided NPs of every specialty needed one national voice. Today it is the largest national membership association for the profession, open to NPs, NP students and organizations interested in the role.
Its National Conference is a big, busy week: sessions carry contact hours with pharmacology credit marked separately, hands-on workshops cost extra, and more credit can be earned on demand afterward. Check the CE page for your year, since AANP lists credit as pending until its review is finished.
The Health Policy Conference is a different sort of trip. It centers on federal policy and meetings with members of Congress, so it suits NPs interested in advocacy more than those chasing clinical hours. NAPNAP and NPACE, both older than AANP, also serve NPs, the former with a pediatric focus.
