About American Diabetes Association
Most people meet the ADA as a patient charity, and it does work on behalf of people living with diabetes through volunteers, research funding and policy advocacy. Inside that sits a professional society of healthcare professionals, and that side is the one running the meeting listed here.
The Scientific Sessions lean toward research. Basic, clinical and translational science all appear on the program, researchers and clinicians attend together, and abstracts, posters and webcasts stay available afterward. A diabetes specialist or researcher will probably get more from it than a generalist looking for a quick practical update.
The ADA also runs other continuing education for health professionals, including free programs through its Institute of Learning, which may suit anyone who wants diabetes credit without the trip. We did not find a credit statement for the next meeting, so check that before you plan on it for CE.
