02 About
About American Pharmacists Association
From its Washington, D.C. headquarters, APhA represents pharmacists, student pharmacists and pharmacy technicians across practice settings instead of a single one. Advocacy is a large part of the job, alongside practice tools and a learning library. Its certificate programs cover areas such as immunization delivery and diabetes care.
Clinicians usually meet APhA in person at one of two events. The annual meeting is a broad national gathering where a community pharmacist, a researcher and a student can each find something, and where connecting with peers matters as much as the sessions. The Joint Federal Pharmacy Seminar is much narrower, built for colleagues in the Department of Defense, Veterans Affairs, the Indian Health Service, the Public Health Service and the Bureau of Prisons, and it speaks to their readiness and leadership concerns while counting toward annual CPE.
Pharmacists after hands-on training for a new service may get more from a certificate program than from either meeting.
