About Society of Critical Care Medicine
ICU care is a team job, and SCCM is organized around that fact. Members in more than 100 countries include the intensivists and other professionals of the multiprofessional ICU team, and the society has been active in critical care education for more than 50 years.
Its Critical Care Congress follows the same logic and is billed as a multiprofessional event, so it is planned for more than physicians. The society takes submissions of original research abstracts and case reports, which gives clinicians with ICU data of their own a place to present it.
Attendees earn accredited continuing education credit, and Congress Digital offers an online route to the sessions for anyone who cannot travel or wants to catch up. SCCM's post-event pages explain how to claim credit. An Accreditation and Learning Strategies Committee also reviews the society's education policies, so the credit process is a formal part of how SCCM runs.
