02 About
About Texas Veterinary Medical Association
TVMA speaks for the veterinary profession in Texas, with a mission that joins advocacy for practitioners with animal and human well-being. For a Texas veterinarian it is the state-level home for policy, a member directory and CE listings.
Its own Annual Conference & Expo is deliberately on the cozy side. The association pitches it as a close-knit setting, with nationally recognized speakers and a tradeshow, and colleagues who see each other year after year. That can suit someone who prefers a familiar crowd to the bustle of a national convention.
The Southwest Veterinary Symposium is broader. It is a partnership of the Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas veterinary associations plus veterinary technician groups, and adds interactive labs for DVMs, technicians, assistants, practice managers and office staff. TVMA also keeps a CE calendar with outside programs, so confirm credit with each event's own host.
