02 About
About Veterinary Association Management
Unlike most organizers in this directory, VAM is not a member society. It is a family-run business in North Carolina, founded in 1984 to manage education for veterinarians, technicians and support staff who need required hours.
Its regional conferences are held in resort towns across the Southeast, including the Mountain Veterinary Conference in Cherokee and Ralph Lee's Great Smokies Veterinary Conference in Asheville. VAM says each conference provides at least 20 hours of CE, so a single trip can cover a good share of many clinicians' required hours. Programs draw on a varied faculty and include company-sponsored lunch sessions, and because technicians and staff are part of the audience, a practice can attend as a group.
Approval is handled state by state. The Great Smokies page, for example, lists approval by the veterinary boards of Alabama, Florida and West Virginia for that conference. We found no RACE statement on the pages we reviewed, so confirm with VAM or your board if your state isn't named for the meeting you want.
