What mental health conferences offer
Mental health conferences serve licensed counselors, clinical social workers, psychologists, marriage and family therapists, addiction counselors and psychiatric nurses. Topics run from trauma and anxiety treatment to couples work, child and adolescent care and clinical supervision. State associations run many of them with local licensing rules in mind.
Mental health and addiction conferences combine both fields, which suits clinicians in integrated programs. CEU retreats for mental health professionals pair training with time away and schedule fewer hours per day. In-person mental health conferences give you role-play and skills practice that recorded courses rarely include.

CE approvals for counselors, social workers and psychologists
Each license has its own approval system. Counselors look for NBCC approval and psychologists for APA-approved sponsors. Social workers look for ASWB ACE, which most US states accept. New York does not, and every state board keeps the final say on whether a course counts. ACE approves either whole providers or single courses and conferences, so the statement may cover one event only.
A conference can hold several of these approvals or none. Many boards also require ethics, supervision, cultural competence or suicide prevention hours; look for sessions labeled with those topics.

Free CEUs, online training and choosing a meeting
Free mental health CEUs come from government agencies, universities and associations, often as webinars. They help close small gaps before renewal. Check the approval body and whether your board counts a live webinar as in-person or as home study, since some boards cap home study.
When comparing conferences, look at the approvals listed, the CE hours per day and the share of skills-based workshops. If you practice one modality, a training institute for that modality may teach more than a general conference.
