04 Guide
RACE-approved CE for veterinary technicians
Look for RACE approval on vet tech conferences. RACE is the AAVSB's Registry of Approved Continuing Education, and the AAVSB says a RACE-approved course will help you meet license and credential CE requirements. Its RACEtrack tool stores your completed hours, and approved programs can be searched through CE Broker.
Hours, cycle length and accepted formats come from your state board or credentialing body, not from RACE, so look up that rule first. Ask for a certificate per session instead of one attendance letter for the whole event. Per-session certificates are much easier to match to an audit request.
05 Guide
Technician tracks, technician-only meetings and VTS academies
At many large veterinary conferences, technicians get a full program of their own alongside the veterinarians. When the clinic sends the whole team, one travel plan covers everyone, so ask about team registration before booking people one at a time.
Technician-only meetings and academy events go deeper. NAVTA lists 16 approved specialty academies, from anesthesia and analgesia to dentistry, emergency and critical care, and behavior. Completing an academy's pathway earns the VTS designation, so match sessions to your academy's requirements. NAVTA also runs webinars and a RACE-approved on-demand infection prevention course for hours between conferences.
06 Guide
Budget, employer support and labs
Ask whether the clinic's CE allowance covers registration only or travel and hotel too. Bring a list of the sessions you plan to attend, with their hours, to that conversation. A concrete list is easier to approve than a conference name.
Hands-on labs such as dental radiography or anesthesia monitoring have small seat counts and their own fee. Book them first and fill the rest of the day with lectures. Hours earned after your credential's renewal date roll into the next period, so time the meeting before the deadline if you are short.
