04 Guide

PTCB recertification and ACPE-accredited CE

Pharmacy technician CE for PTCB starts with the cycle. CPhT, CPhT-Adv and CPTEd renew every two years, and CSPT renews every year. The CPhT recertification fee is $55, with a $25 charge for late applications. PTCB's CE directory lists only ACPE-accredited programs, and its renewal page carries the current hour and topic rules.

At a conference, check each session's audience code. ACPE marks every activity for pharmacists (P), pharmacy technicians (T) or both. ACPE's technician guidance also makes a learning assessment a condition of credit, so a skipped post-test means no hours for that session.

05 Guide

Live CE and state board requirements

Your state board of pharmacy may have its own rules for technician registration or licensure, separate from PTCB. ACPE notes that boards set their own contact hours and topics. If yours asks for live hours or pharmacy law, a state association meeting is a practical way to collect live pharmacy technician CE in one day.

A full technician track tends to give you more T-coded hours per day than scattered sessions. Your employer may pay registration, and PTCB also runs an employer program through which employers can pay technicians' certification fees.

06 Guide

Free pharmacy technician CE or a paid event

Free pharmacy technician CE is plentiful online. Confirm that each course is ACPE-accredited and coded T before you count it. Then check that it posts to CPE Monitor through your NABP e-Profile, because a course that never posts is hard to prove later.

A paid event makes sense when you need live hours, training toward an advanced credential such as CPhT-Adv, or a block of hours before your recertification date. Plan it inside your current cycle.
